About the brand

G.H. BASS – AMERICAN FOOTWEAR SINCE 1876

In 1876, George Henry Bass began making shoes in Wilton, Maine, built to be comfortable and long-lasting. As the business grew, production moved in 1887 to a factory on Wilson Stream, where the machinery was driven by water power.

BOOTS FOR HARSH CONDITIONS

In 1917, G.H. Bass created its Ski Moccasin, and in 1918 the U.S. government ordered an official aviation boot designed for the cold at high altitude. Bass ski boots were also worn by Admiral Richard E. Byrd on his Antarctic expeditions between 1928 and 1938.

WEEJUNS – AN AMERICAN STYLE ICON

In 1936, G.H. Bass introduced the Weejuns loafer, which became one of the brand's most recognisable models and a symbol of classic American style. Today, G.H. Bass combines almost 150 years of experience with contemporary design.
