The brand’s history was shaped by Rainer Ersfeld, a German visionary who, in 2004, chanced upon a bespoke shoe wax at a cobbler's workshop in Salem Castle. At the time, only small quantities were available in Germany; however, driven by a clear vision and firm belief in the product's value, Ersfeld acquired the BURGOL brand from its original manufacturer.

A few years later, a devastating fire destroyed the entire factory, forcing a complete rebuild. Rainer Ersfeld embraced this setback as an opportunity for total renewal, finally implementing long-held ideas such as the development of new formulas and products. During this dynamic period, BURGOL expanded beyond shoe wax to produce polishing brushes, shoe creams, polishing pastes, leather sole oils, shoe cleaners, and various suede care products. To this day, these products are crafted exclusively from natural ingredients, which prove far more effective in maintaining high-quality leather.
