FRACAP – A SYMBOL OF ITALIAN CRAFTSMANSHIP
What began as one man's initiative is now a globally recognised brand, synonymous with quality, craftsmanship, and durability. In 1908, in a town in Apulia, Italy, Antonio Cappello made his first pair of shoes by hand. With courage and talent, he started a successful business, making shoes for farmers. Antonio's footwear quickly became famous for its durability and became a symbol of quality throughout the region, associated with the Cappello family name. Later, the name FRACAP was born from the combination of fratelli (Italian for brothers) and Cappello.
A WELL-EARNED REPUTATION
In 1948, Antonio's sons Alfredo and Giovanni took over footwear production. The young brothers began to create a new brand image, expanding production and adopting new designs and styles. Soon, FRACAP shoes became widely known for their excellent quality. One of the most important milestones occurred in the 1990s when FRACAP created a military collection for the Italian army and air force. The collection was a huge success and helped establish the brand's image as not only stylish but also reliable and functional.
MAGNIFICO
"Magnifico" is an already recognisable and legendary FRACAP model. The original pair of "Magnifico" shoes was made by Alfredo Cappello. He aimed to create durable, versatile shoes that could be worn both in the mountains and for everyday use. When his wife saw the final version of the shoe, she exclaimed: "Magnifico" (Italian for "magnificent").
Today, the FRACAP factory still operates in the same town in Apulia and continues to produce shoes with the same attention to detail as A. Capello did over a hundred years ago. Here, using various techniques, hand craftsmanship, and quality materials, unique and timeless footwear is created.
